Me Bad

Ok Ok I know. I'm bad. I don't know what it is. I haven't been on here in a while and I haven't even read up on the blogs I normally follow.

Well only 2 more weeks till I go back to work! Hard to believe that a year has gone by already. All the "plans" I had for when I was off, didn't get them done. Talk about procrastinating and now there just isn't enough time in a day. Oh well. Life goes on, right?

Lets see... what have we been up to? Well we went camping on the May long weekend. Learnt a lesson with our camper. Turns out those screen doors are pretty flimsy. E pushed it and she fell out of the trailer. I heard it happen and I screamed at Darrell because he was outside and I was at the back of the trailer. We both went running to her. The poor girl she wasn't happy and boy she didn't look pretty! We are lucky though because she could have easily done more damage. As of right now she's got a scab under her nose and a bit on her nose. Took us awhile to calm her down but when we did she was happy as can be. That night was a rough night though because she woke up lots. I'm assuming it was probably whenever she turned her head and her nose rubbed on the playpen. Oh yeah and we learnt another lesson... don't forget toys! I totally forgot them so it was hard to entertain her, the grass and rocks can only do so much! Heck I'm not suprised I forgot them considering I almost forgot to pack clothes for D and I! (yes it was a last minute camping trip!)

What else have we been up to? We went to BC for Easter. That was a fun trip! Went and saw D's sisters family. They hadn't seen E since Christmas so they had fun with her! Got to see his sister's band perform. They are releasing a CD this weekend! I'm so excited! Check them out on MySpace under SisterGirl ... www.myspace.com/sistergirlband.

Other then that... not much has been going on! Just trying to get organized for going to back to work. What an adjustment that is going to be! I'm nervous. I'm not a morning person at all and I'm going to be getting up extra early now. I've been able to change my hours at work 7-3 instead of 8-4 that way it's easier for me to get back here to pick up E from the dayhome. D will be dropping her off in the morning. Should be an interesting couple weeks that is for sure.

Well I'm off to tidy up a bit while E is sleeping!

Long time no blog

I can't believe it's been like 3 weeks since I've been on here. Bad Me!!

Obviously not much has been going on for me to blog about. E is keeping me pretty busy all the time. She's crusing around hanging on to furniture and recently began standing on her own, I know it will only be a matter of time and she'll be walking around. That's kinda a scary thought but exciting all at the same time.

2 more months till I go back to work. I can't believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like just yesterday I was preparing to be off work and here it is a year later and I'm preparing to go back to work. We have a dayhome lined up for E that I'm very happy with so far. In May we will go over for a few playdates and such to get her used to it. I hope things go smoothly.

It does suck going back to work for June 2nd. Too bad you couldn't plan these things better and then I could have had the whole summer off with her, it would be so much fun since she should be walking around and really playing by then. Oh well. Maybe next time!

Happy Friday!!

Guilty

Ever just have one of those days that makes you want to curl up into a ball and shut the world out? That is today.

It started last night with E waking up at 3 am deciding it was time to wake up and play. I know I should be blessed that I have a baby who will normally sleep 10-12 hours a night but last night I just wanted to sleep. She was up from 3-5. I wasn't happy about that. She'd cuddle for a bit, I put her back in the crib, leave the room and she screams and screams and screams. I was sooo tired! So I go back in the room and she starts laughing and playing and smiling. Not funny girl. Then as I'm trying to get her back to bed with her screaming D is still in bed, now normally that wouldn't bother me, he does have to get up and go to work in the morning but for some reason last night I just wanted him to get up and help me but didn't feel right asking. Needless to say I was pretty bitter at him for no fault of his own, I should have asked if I needed the help.

So with that E ended up being really cranky all day long. ALL. DAY. LONG. And tonight was the night D was going to the Brier so that was hanging on my head all day long. I just didn't want to do this by myself today. E only napped for a bit this morning and then she didn't want to nap this afternoon, woke up after 40 minutes crying and I knew she was still tired because she was so cranky all day. So I go upstairs and sure enough she had pooped so I changed her diaper and then just held her and rocked her for 20 minutes till she went back to sleep. She soooo needed that. Woke up and happy as can be. Full of smiles, full of laughs. Just my happy girl back.

So then what... now I'm sitting here tonight upset that I was so upset all day long. Feeling guilty for being so tired and feeling guilty that I know I was not myself today. Feeling guilty for being upset with D for not helping me. E is in bed and I'm sitting her all alone surfing the internet feeling like a failure for being upset? Why? Why do I feel bad for being upset? Everyone is allowed an off day yet why do I feel guilty about it?

Tomorrow is a new day, a new beginning!

Oh yes! And tomorrow I get to go see my little brother in a play at the high school I went to! I can't believe he's 16! He's Romeo's father in Romeo and Juliet I'm so excited to see him in the play, in my old drama classroom from 13 years ago!! Oh exciting times!!

Go Flames Go

We're off to Edmonton this weekend! I'm so excited. As soon as D gets off work today we'll be hitting the highway.

We managed to get tickets to see the Flames and Oilers tomorrow night! I can't wait!! Funny we can get tickets for Edmonton but not Calgary! Ever since the flames made their cup run in 2004 we just can't seem to get seats. It's really depressing for me since I've been a flames fan since I was in grade 4 and they beat Montreal in the Stanley Cup finals!! I've loved them since the rest of my family are all Montreal fans it was fun to hang out with the guys and make them made by cheering for the other team! Ok that was a little off topic!

D is a huge Oilers fan and me not so much (Go Iggy Go!). Our seats are RIGHT BEHIND THE FLAMES BENCH!! I can't wait!! Can you tell I'm excited? Our bags are packed with our jersey's and E's sleeper. I made her a sleeper that is half oilers and half flames! I just hope she can make it at the game since it doesn't start till 8 and that is usually her bedtime so please pray for us! Or else we may have to leave early and that would just suck!

We decided to make a nice family weekend out of it, thus our reason for going up tonight. That way we can *hopefully* sleep in tomorrow and relax. Go swimming in the hotel pool, go to West Edmonton Mall, have a late lunch and get ready for the game!

Then Sunday we are hoping to stop and visit my friend in Leduc if her son is healthy since he was sick earlier this week, poor guy. I told D that we should go to Ikea for the $0.99 breaky on Sunday before we leave Edmonton and then we can see if they have our bookshelfs in since Calgary is still sold out of them! Plus, what a nice cheap breaky! LOL

Anyways, I should get back to laundry and packing while E is napping! I'll post pics on Monday of E in her awesome sleeper! Poor girl is going to grow up not liking hockey or liking a totally different team then us!

ta ta for now!

Happy Birthday!!

So today is hubby's birthday! Yup Valentines Day. Thankfully we aren't big on Valentines. I mean for real, why can't people show their love every day. Sometimes I wonder if it's all a show so girls can actually get treated special! LOL Thankfully D makes me feel special all the time so today it's all about his birthday!

D is 36 years old today! I love to remind him that I will never be as old as him!!

I made my first cake from scratch for him! Banana Cream! I'm sooo excited. I'll post a picture later. It looks soooo yummy and smelt so yummy yesterday baking. I got this cool cake pan from Michaels for Christmas it has a heart that is in the centre of the cake and it's filled with pudding! YUMMY!! I hope he can eat it because I don't think it's very weight watchers friendly for me!!

Adding some pics!

New Career

I think it's time to look at a new Career. Yup. I'm going to be a dentist. Ok not really but man that is what I should have done with my life. Let's hope we can get E to do it.

D had to have "surgery" today. I use surgery lightly only because we left 1 hr later. He had two teeth pulled today... 1 wisdom tooth and one other beside it. Seriously... $1400 for 1 hour of work, dang I think we're in the wrong business! Good thing we have coverage between 2 companies or that could have been a nice big hit to our account! You know it's funny. I was looking at the costs. There was a charge of $478 for the operating room! WOW! Maybe I should make an office and just rent it out to dentists for surgeries. The funny thing was... D's work wouldn't cover that fee! So what, they want them to knock him out and do surgery in a van down by the river? Come off it. We pay good money for these plans and if we didn't have coverage through my work we would have been out of pocket for that! It's just crazy to think. Man am I ever thankful for dental coverage.

So a funny little note. D can be quite the comic. Before he goes in he was signing some papers and the dentist was telling us about the procedure and comments that he'll be out for about 20 minutes and then recovery. So D comments, good we have a reservation at Humpty's at 9. LOL Doesn't he wish. He says it wish such a straight face that the receptionist was horrified. The dentist goes you may want to cancel it and in a very serious voice D was like, so should we move it to 10?

So when he's ready to come home they tell me I can pull around to the patient pickup zone go in another door and a nurse will come out and talk to me about healing and such. She comes out and she goes, your husband is quite the comedian, I said yes he wishes he was. Apperantly all he could talk about was Humptys and how that is where we are going. Can you tell he's hungry? LOL So she goes and gets him, brings him out and walks him out to the car. I had to back up a bit because there was too much snow for him to get in and he starts to walk around and says to the nurse "I'm going to drive" she just starts laughing. Yeah sure buddy. I'd like to make it home safe!

We're home safe, he's upstairs sleeping and thinks that tomorrow he'll be able to eat birthday cake. Guess we'll see! The nurse said it should be fine because it's soft. Happy Birthday to him and happy long weekend, he'll be in pain all weekend...... oh I'm so excited.

Jan 1, 1920 - Feb 5, 2009

This post is dedicated to my grandma. She passed away yesterday after gracing the world with her presence for 89 short years.

I'm heartbroken and happy all at the same time. I'm so glad she was my grandma. She was smart, cheeky, funny, graceful and classy. About 5 years ago she was diagnosed with Dementia. But the best part of this is the way she delt with it. She was so graceful. If she didn't recognize you or didn't remember you, she'd never let you know! She'd hold a conversation with you as if she had just visited with you yesterday. (hence you having to tell her the same thing over again). She had the most amazing stories of her time in the airforce and meeting my grandfather and how all the men wanted to date her but she was a shy, timid woman. She danced with Trudeau and wasn't impressed by him. (Love that story). And if she didn't like something you said she'd stick her tongue out at you! That was the best. I wish I could remember all the details so I could share it.

My most favorite memory of her of all times took place June 1988. My grandpa had passed away earlier that year and she got a piano when he died. He always wanted to get her one because she played so gracefully and sung so wonderful. That year I got to finish school about 2 weeks before everyone else (grade 4) so I drove out to Westbank (just south of Kelowna) with my grandma and my uncle Glen. I remember sitting in her kitchen at the table listening to her play the piano and sing. She had the most beautiful voice ever. Well she took a little break and the phone rang and it was one of her neighbours telling her to open her windows wider and to start singing again because it was so beautiful. People walking by would stop at her yard and just listen. Just thinking about that brings tears to my eyes.

She stopped playing the piano about 5 years ago I think. She just wouldn't play it and one of the first times I went over there with Darrell he asked her if she played and she said "I used to, I don't know how anymore" He says really, can I try. And he opened it up and she sat with him and just started playing! We were stunned! She wouldn't play for anyone but she did for him. Then everytime we went over after that she'd be like "Do you want me to play for you". And then apperantly she started playing a little more often. I want that piano. That piano brings me so many happy memories.

My grandma like I said was a cheeky lady. She's funny. After I gave birth to E one of my uncles told her I had a baby. And she was like "WHAT! Is she married?", yes mom you were at the wedding, "Ok good then atleast she doesn't have to rush and get married". So when we took E to go see her when she was about 3 weeks old my grandma was so funny. First off again the comment was "You better marry the father." Yes grandma I already did. "Ok good!" Then she kepted calling her what a cute boy, how old is he. "Grandma it's a girl and she's 3 weeks old" she kept saying it like every few minutes and then she goes "OH yes, it's a girl, oh who cares they all look the same when they are babies no one knows". hahaha Yes that is true, but she's wearing pink, and she goes "So, Glen wore pink sometimes because that is what I had"... that reminds me, we need to bug my uncle for wearing pink.

I'm glad that we got the chance to take some pictures with her last fall with Emma. Mom and I went down and we took some great 4 generation pictures. I will treasure those pictures forever. I'm also glad she was well enough to celebrate her birthday this year with everyone. We got some great pictures there too.

My grandma had the most amazing house in Westbank ever. I LOVE IT! I've always wanted to go buy that house back. Her and my grandpa took amazing care of that house and yard. It was this big 5 bedroom house. They had fruit trees galore. I believe there was 2 cherry trees, 3 apple trees and 3 peach trees. And the softest grass ever. It was like walking on soft carpet it was so amazing. All the neighbourhood kids would gather at her corner lot in the crescent and just sit and talked. She loved it. When she moved the people who bought it didn't take good care of it. I'm sorry but if you buy a house with a big lot, be prepared to look after it! It was so maddening to see it. We went back about 5 years after she sold it and just couldn't believe it! There was cars parked on the grass, half the grass was dead. We knew it wasn't good as neighbours kept in touch with us and her and told her about it. I think it broke her heart. Her and my grandpa bought it when they retired and took such pride in it. 3 years ago D and I were out in BC so I showed him and the new owners started to take better care but it still wasn't the same. Last year we went and I cried. I cried and cried. Someone cut down almost all the trees and half the grass was dead. I just wanted to walk up to the door and yell at them and offer to buy it. One day I will buy it and restore it back to how amazing it was before. That I would love to do but the whole neighbourhood just isn't the same anymore. Funny how things happen like that. I'm just glad that I have spent the best summers of my life there and I will always remember how happy we were to be there.

One thing I wonder about, when you die are you healthy again? Like when you go to heaven are you "back to normal"? The reason I ask this and I'm glad I wasn't there to see it. She saw a picture of herself and my grandpa and she knew who she was but didn't know who he was. That was sad. My mom said everyone was so quiet when she asked and when they told her she just says "Oh, he's cute". LOL Yes grandma he was! I''d like to think when she gets there that he's up there waiting for her asking what took her so long! 21 years almost to the day after he passed away she decided it was time to join him and I hope she is happy to be in his arms again.

Grandma, I love you so much. Thank you for being an amazing grandma. I cherish the times we spent together and will treasure those memories for ever.

I confess, I'm a self made wimp

Yup I admit it. I'm a wimp.

So I'm sitting in the dentist chair yesterday and freakin out. I was pretty much in tears and they hadn't started anything yet. But I can say I love my new dentist! She is sooo kind. She definatly made me feel very comfortable the whole time and it didn't hurt at all!! Well the needle to freeze did hurt a bit but not much.

Someone asked me what it was like and I had never been frozen before and I sat there as they were working watching "Little People Big World" I can say I love the TV at the dentist and it felt like a c-section happening on my mouth. Yup what a way to describe it, you feel nothing but pressure and that is exactly how my c-section went. I said that to D and he laughed and said so that's how it feels to have a baby. He said when he has his root canal next week he's going to think about that the whole time and it will be hard not to laugh!

Coming home was fun. I stopped in at Safeway for a few things and I couldn't really talk it was definatly weird. I felt like I was walking around all deformed and drool coming out of my mouth but I didn't. I felt like I had a nice fat lip! It took a while for that freezing to come out also. When I left the dentist they said it should start coming out probably 30 minutes from that time... they were wrong... it was like 2 hours later! That's ok though.

Now I know if I ever need another one I don't have to be such a chicken but I know I still wont be looking forward to it either.

A what, a root canal?

So I have a strong dislike for the dentist, very strong. I have such a weak gag reflex that even them cleaning my teeth causes me major stress!

I hadn't been to the dentist in about 5 years and one of my teeth were bugging me so D made me an appointment at his dentist and told them how scared I was! I went back in November for a "check-up" they just did x-rays and such. It wasn't so bad. But the first word out of the dentist's mouth is Root Canal. Yup I heard that and basically just blocked out everything else and I almost started crying there.

Back in grade 3 I was running down a hill and fell flat on my face and busted my two front teeth. It was a funny split. I busted half of each tooth in a downward angle. It was weird!

Well turns out I need a root canal on one of those. My dentist before said it was fine but this one noticed that I have a little bump up there and she was surprised I never noticed and it didn't bug me. So needless to say I made an appointment for it. The funny thing was this appointment was going to be before my first teeth cleaning. About 3 days before I chickened out, called them and cancelled. I told them I was too scared and I needed to atleast have a cleaning first. December I had the cleaning, it went pretty good! I was so proud of myself. So I booked the root canal... and the day has arrived. I have to go for it. I had trouble falling asleep last night just thinking about it I don't think I've ever been this stressed. I wasn't even this stressed being in labor!

Oh and to make it worse... my appointment was supposed to be at 11 and they called an postponed it till 12:30... talk about making the stressed out more stressed out!

Decluttering

Ok I need help. I have decided enough is enough. I need to declutter my house. I'm tired of having so much crap and not knowing what to do with it. I don't even know where to begin. I want to start with my kitchen but I know I really need to start with all the papers and crap in our spare room.

Ever since our "office" became E's room I have felt sooo disorganized. Everything from that room went into the spare room and the basement. We have partially finished the basement so that is starting to come together and be organized but there is still stuff in that spare room that I don't know what to do with. Don't know where to start. But to give you an idea, I've got stuff in there from our wedding preparations, and the room hasn't been organized since May and I have obviously not needed anything yet I'm afraid to shred and toss everything.

So where do I begin? Is there websites out there dedicated to decluttering? I'm sure I'm making my house sound worse then it really is but to me lately I am so frazzled. I just need to do something. I don't know if it's because I'm tired of tripping over the baby toys and I know this is just the beginning! I mean really she's 7 month's old I know it's going to get worse with the toys!! LOL

I think the hard part is doing it by myself. E is not a good napper so at best I get 40 minutes so I can't really get much done in that time. If I start something and can't get it done during her naps then I know it will take me a few days to go back to it. I just need some motivation!! HELP ME!!

Yeah!! I've been tagged!!

Thanks Bobbi!! I'm excited I've never been "tagged" in a blog before talk about making my day! But how ironic that it was just after my post on needing more interesting things going on? LOL

So I started this yesterday and had to take a break. I realized I had no friends, no blog friends that is. I'm still new to this whole thing so I didn't have many blogs I was following... count them.. 2. I solved that! I turned to my most favorite trusting website in the world...weddingbells. I found this site while planning my wedding (yes that was awhile ago) and it's an addiction I tell you. A big one. You can find the answers to anything on this website and the women are great. So I put the call out there for friends (sounds a little desperate doesn't it?) and I have lots! Thanks ladies!

So here we go!

6 (un) interesting things about me...

1. I LOOOOOOVE Peanut Butter. I wouldn't know what to do if my kid ever had a peanut allergy.
2. I love the biggest loser and secretly wish I could be on the show but I know I wouldn't survive that long away from my friends and family. And Jillian would make me cry, though I would want her as a trainer because she beats the crap out of her team!
3. I went to the New Kids concert this past year and it was the highlight of my year (oh wait! Other then the birth of my daughter)
4. I love road trips.
5. I am the best map reader around and love to search out different paths on our road trips.
6. I can't sleep a full night, I wake up at least 3 times.

So.... I'm going to tag:

1. Kelly (Kel, here's the nudge to get you back into it!)
2. Shannon
3. Kenzie
4. Deanne
5. Carly
6. Tatiana

Have fun!!

MIA

Yes, yes I know. I've been MIA. No real excuse either other then not having much to say!

We took a trip to Lethbridge the weekend of the 10th. Did my first real Tupperware party in about a year. I was freakin nervous but I did do ok. And as a result I know how another party down there, thank you Mandy :) I also have 2 other parties this month. I'm really excited. I know the opportunites are HUGE in Tupperware, enough that I wouldn't have to go back to work if I tried hard enough. It's just a matter of getting my act together.

Today E and I started swimming lessons. Oh she had a blast! This girl is made for the water. She was happy and kicking the whole time, loves the songs, and games! Even loved being dunked under water! She was a little shocked at first but then just started laughing! It was so much fun.

Other then that... nothing has been going on! We were sick last week for a good week and a bit! But are finally over it! Seems to be going around big time.

Hmm I guess that's it! I guess I'll have to start having a more exciting life to talk about more often!
